Well nearing the first half of the season it appears that the 3 rochester schools in the big 9 are the teams to beat and are favored to win the big 9. Century looks as if they are the better team overall at this point but are not far away from JM or Mayo. Mayo probably has the deeper team although t...

Another big factor is that Mayo's strength of schedule was far greater than what JM had. And Mayo played very well against some of the top teams in the state. And I also believe being ahead of JM in the big 9 helped Mayo outway a Kiwanis game that ended 2-1 in ot. These games shouldn't be factors an...

The major was called due to him laying on the ice for 4 minutes instead of getting up and taking it like a man.

What are you talking about ILIKECARS2?????? Mayo hasn't lost since January 13th. And in regards to last night you are right it was a terribly officiated game BUT ON BOTH ENDS!!!!! Faribault scored its first goal on a 5 minute major power play that should not have been a 5 minute major. Faribualt, du...

Mayo simply has a better chance than anybody else due to the fact that they are a defensive team first and an offensive team second. They also have a goalie who when on can keep them close. If you looked at the big 9 stats Mayo at three quarters into the conference schedule was giving up 1.6 goals a...

rookie19 let's not get ahead of things here. Unless of course you are trying to jinx albert lea at this point. I know Austin doesn't stand a chance in upsetting AL but let's not rule out Owatonna just yet. Anything can happen during the course of a hockey game. We have all seen a goalie have a big g...

You may be right clutterbuck with you seeding picks. However I think Mayo beating Century and moving ahead at the 5 seed hurts them. Now they would have to go to Farmington for the firt game. At 6 they would stay for a home and home game with JM. Weird how this works out sometimes. Now if Mayo wins ...

You are right clutterbuck22 tonight one of the teams for sure will be out of the mix for the big 9 title. Albert vs. West will eliminate one team. Mayo should be able to handle Owatonna and continue the uphill quest for the share of the title.

OU812: Vangalder had one of his worst nights during the Albert Lea game. gave up 3 soft ones. Can't say much though as he has been terrific all year long and was probably due to have a bad night. Score doesn't indicate but the game was relatively even. Mayo had a few penalties and the puck just didn...

goldy313: Those records don't indicate how good these teams are. If North, South, Mayo and the rest played the same teams as DC they would be undefeated at this point. Looking at the schedules North, South, and Mayo will definitely finish above .500 and they are pretty decent teams.

goldy you may be right regarding your seeding opinions but if perhaps Mayo wins the big 9 and has a better overall record over farmington it would be hard pressed to put farmington over Mayo even though Farmington won that fluke game. Farmington just lost to RedWing last night and Mayo beat RedWing....

Mayo vs. Century is a big game not only for big 9 conference standings but I think even more for section time. Mayo needs to sweep Century for sure and at least split with albert lea and win out the rest to get the 3 seed. That would put them relatively in the top 3 in the big 9 as well. If they don...

Yes they lost to Century in the Kiwinis tourney I think that is where the confusion is. But they also lost to JM in the Kiwanis. Of course both don't count. They have only played 4 conference games and are 3-1.

scarletthockey: Mayo only has one loss as well. Hockey Hub is wrong. Mayo has only played 4 conference games and is 3-1. They played Owatonna (W) East (W) John Marshall (L) and John Marshall again (W) . Mayo has all conference games remaining on there schedule. West and Mayo play once for 4 points w...

You are right guys with Mayo's record. But in this buisness its a marathon not a spint to the finish. You might see that this record means nothing when it comes to section time. That is when it counts guys. Some coaches simply schedule and play for section time and that is it. And Mayo playing the #...

It was an impressive showing by Mayo. Sederquest and Whitney were also not available for the game so they were a bit shorthanded. If Mayo can bring this to the conference it should be interesting.

GopherPuck15: At this point I wouldn't say it's just a three horse race. If Mayo can continue to bring the game to the rink they have the past week I don't see them losing a whole lot down the stretch. They have only played 3 conference games and are 2-1. After tomorrow's game with South St. Paul th...

How about let's hand it to both great coaches. Yea Ike had Edina's program and did it less time but Grosso did it in a smaller program and it took him longer. It probably equals everything out and Grosso now is passing him. Congrats to Grosso now and again when he soon moves ahead.
