What a hypocrite! What parents coached the Mayo stars (Martin, Alcott, Holtan, Edwards,....) year after year, even tho their older kids were at Lourdes? What school employed your legendary coach for years? 4 programs in Rochester allow an additional 40 young men to play high school hockey over the 3...

yes, but then again,no
Northfield outplayed Lourdes in the first 2 1/3 periods, but at the end Northfield could not match up to Lourdes lines. If Northfield could have played only 5 kids the last 10 minutes of the game it would have been a different outcome. Note: Lourdes student's section wa...

Re: Just sayin'

Assuming you are speaking of A only.
Thanks for clarifying for me....Barring an upset in the quarters, the semis and final will all be close games. NP-West will be fabulous.

Per QRF, 1A is the most competitive 1-4 in the State this year.....not a perfect system, but hardly a sign of the "worst"

Just sayin'

Food for thought:
Based on QRF, Section 1A is the most competitive bracket 1-4 in the state.
Should be quite a tussle for the berth at the X :)

Is Lourdes senior forward starter and #3 scorer back from injury?
Is Lourdes senior defenseman fully recovered from his broken leg?
What if they played the game on the moon?

Give ME a break.

goaltending vs goaltender

Lourdes has been playing the best goalie available all year. Not necessarily a strength position for a couple of years, but no doubting the effort. If younger kid is now best available, then he should take over in the playoff run. Running down the former starter is beneath adult discussion.

Wow, THAT is pretty darn random!!

TRF gets the "8 seed"
STA gets the "7 seed"
Hermantown get the "6 seed"
Breck gets the "5 seed"

Don't like the "random" draw but at least it looks like they followed the rules for once. 8)

Random draw my arse

Yep, nothing random about it....seen it just happen to work out in hockey and boys' soccer too many times for it to be "random"

Probably not ultimately that big a deal this year as the top three are pretty dominent and then there is everyone else

Force3 move based on success

Privates vs publics is a stupid argument for any number of reasons. However, if you have won two state 1A tournaments, you are forced to go to 2A, no ifs-ands-or-buts. That includes H-town, Warroad, ..... The two tiered system has helped smaller and southern schools develop hockey programs....but th...

Lourdes dominence may be running it's course

Don't be quite so certain about the Lourdes dynasty. They lose a lot of talent this year and next. Four years ago Rochester's top Bantam team finished second to Wayzata in the state tournament. Half of that team went to Lourdes (not all the top players) and the other half scattered to JM, Mayos, and...

Joe Morris as tournament MVP

This was a beautifully played game, physical but honest. The ending penalty was not cheap, just an outcome of the stress of a very tough loss. Joe Morris ought to be tournament MVP, irrespective of the outcome. The cliche is apt for this game, a shame either team had to lose.

Excellent final

Expect this will be an old fashioned low-scoring game, physical but clean. Scores last couple of years have been 2-1, 1-1, 4-1, 3-1, 3-1. If NP has some jump at the get-go, could be a mild upset.

That said, I'll follow the trend:
RL 3, NP 1 :!:

Lourdes is too high, getting to many "almost winner" points. History of good leads that they don't hold. Should get out of the section, can shut out a star, but will struggle against deep teams.

top ten definitely, top five probably, not higher than 4 at tourney start.

Home town, yes; home ice no.
RL has played only one game on this ice all season, it is home ice for Century and Ice Hawks. Home ice for RL is Graham Arena. Rec Center is a better place for Sectionals.

Looking like very shrewed planning by Faribault coaches, bring Forgaard back so slowly. Make him earn it back, but have him the unquestioned #1 goalie by Sections.

Faribault is the section sleeper, and probably love it that way.
