Improving Skating Strength and Speed?

Looking for feedback on users of skate weight (SK8W8). My son asked about using these in practice and I am curious if anyone has experience with these weights. Will they jeopardize technique or agility?

Jackstraw - the format is 2 games per day, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Six teams play 5 games and then the teams are seeded based on finish, so top two teams play rematch, then 3 vs 4, and 5 vs 6. Most teams will miss a day of school (Friday) assuming you fly in Thursday night.

Fielding competitive Tier I teams outside of traditional hockey zones may have been inevitable, but not the SuperSeries concept. For years, the idea was for teams in the non-traditional areas to travel to the traditional areas and take whatever was provided in the tournament, which was typically onl...

Sorry to take you off topic. Thanks for the interesting feedback for a parent of a young, pre-high school player. By the way, I really enjoy reading this forum as a hockey novice, at least in terms of ever playing. :-)

Regarding the comment on "Guentzel. Pretty small, but really knows how to play the game." For MN HS Hockey, what do you consider a small player for a freshman versus the size needed for a freshman to effectively play varsity in MN? Forward vs Defense?

Curious. Does this player have a younger brother named Rem? If yes, what do you know about the younger Pitlick and his skill set?

Re: Prefer the current system

My son played In addition, the Tier I system begins so young that kids can be funneled to house hockey at any early age. Kids as young as 9 or 10 don't get the same opportunities for development as kids showing early promise. It's a shame because a kid showing promise at 9 or 10 may be a bust by 14...

Vanek's AAA 26'ers Bring In Top Talent For The Ind. Classic

This model sounds similar to the Lemieux Academy model run out of Denver. The group offers skills camps including an elite/AAA camp and a few tournament teams used as incentives or to increase visibility to the program. Players probably pay for any tournaments they attend. So how exactly does that ...

Blades Fall In Chicago Running time...What happened?

To answer scrapiron: Saw the '97 Blades, Iceman, and other teams in action over the weekend. While good, many of the teams in Chicago like the Arizona Bobcats, Cougar Selects, and West Coast Selects are not just Tier I AAA teams, but Tier I AAA All Star teams. Including Detroit Little Caesars in the...
