Re: 7AA 2019-2020

Duluth East, CEC, and Elk River fighting for the #3 seed as to not have to face Andover in the section semi. Grand Rapids won’t be easy, either. Does Rapids have the better goaltending than Andover this year? Elk River will be an Andover nightmare if they meet in the semi. Rapids vs. East or CEC wo...

Re: AA school fielding an additional A team

If JV programs are developmental and whose purpose is to get those next level players ready for the varsity, then how much development is actually occurring when you win every game and win by 5+ goals? (This was pretty much the Genesis of the discussion.) No doubt the larger AA programs would benefi...

AA school fielding an additional A team

Could it work for AA teams who have larger programs (or just want to) to field an A team in addition to their AA team? We were talking about the practice of HS programs cutting seniors in favor of underclassmen and JV teams that aren't finding meaningful competition at that level and the idea came up.

PeeWee A designation

My son plays for his associations A team (we have an AA team as well) and I've been looking forward to seeing the matchups from associations that have an AA team and those that chose not to or couldn't. So far we have done well in all our games except when we played North Branch. Predictably some of...

PeeWee checking

For those who remember when checking was allowed in PeeWee hockey - has the make up of the team changed much since it went away? I was watching a AA PW practice the other day and saw three kids that couldn't have been over 75lbs with their gear on. In fact there were no kids of any significant size ...

What has happened to this bored? The Brick is in the books and not one post asking when "The Blades will actually take MN's top 15 to Edmonton"? That topic alone used to be good for at least 20 separate posts! True. No one cares though, Minnesota can't compete in this tournament anyway.

I guees they were playing in the 02 Meltdown. That brings up the question of how good is too good? You consolidate that many good players on a team so that there is no equal left to play. Is that a good thing? Would it be better to spread it around so there are more competitive teams? Having seen t...

Would it be accurate to say there is only one truly elite team at the 03 level right now? I'm having a hard time thinking the Blades have any competition at that level around here. Has everyone kind of moved on from posting about AAA hockey on this site? We've had a few spring tournaments now but nothing about them mentioned around here.

Re: Open enrollment happening at the youth hockey level

I have a question...Would it make sense for a youth hockey board to come up with a policy so that any family open enrolling their kid into another association, that skater can only make a B team? AA spots are held for kids that live in the community Do hockey board members have a responsibility to ...

Top AAA teams have heavy schedules of practices and games throughout the summer. When you are a member of a top AAA team it can be difficult to take the time off to join another team temporarily and properly prepare for the Brick Tourney. The player might fall out of favor with their primary AAA te...
