Re: Early Departures 2020-2021

Dane County won’t let the Capitals play. They also will not let any high school in the county play football. In all seriousness how will they let the University if Wisconsin play? I don’t think anyone can actually fight Dane County. Yet an hour away Wisconsin Dells has tournaments of just about ever...

Re: No State Tournament at the X this Spring....

In Iowa the IHSAA made the schedules in football, largely along district lines allowing non districts rivals to play in week one. The MSHSL could do the same in a day or two once they know which schools are fielding a team and which ones aren’t. Centralized scheduling would go much quicker and smoot...

Re: No State Tournament at the X this Spring....

Are you sure about "clearly delay..." The MSHSL will meet Monday at 9am to discuss football returning October 2nd, they have a bylaw requiring 72 hours notice for a meeting to take place, hence setting the meeting from Friday to Monday. If football does return then that regular season would overlap...

Re: No State Tournament at the X this Spring....

The MSHSL decided during their conference call today to meet Friday to discuss starting the football season Oct. 2nd. Schools were allowed to start practice Monday, so the Oct. 2nd date makes sense. I am hearing the most likely outcome if a season happens is a season ending the Friday before Thanksg...

Re: No State Tournament at the X this Spring....

I am hearing that the MSHSL will revisit their decision to postpone football until the spring. By their earlier decision to postpone football until the spring they allowed a 3 week fall practice to start on Monday. Games could begin in two weeks, no sections or state but the schools could reasonably...

Sorry, I have no inside information on Lourdes. Lourdes is in class while the public high schools are not going in person before Oct. 30. Whether that changed any minds of parents......we will have to wait and see. The last couple of years the number of kids who played on the bantam A team (Rocheste...

Re: 1AA outlook

South is the favorite but Hastings does return enough. They were screwed by the officials last year.......discount the Raiders at your own peril. McCarville is the best goalie in 1AA. Playing in the best conference won’t hurt the Raiders....TRME! Century will be down, Owatonna could make a run. Sout...

Re: 1A 2020-21 Season

Brody Lamb is in a class of players with a tough decision......gamble on the MSHSL having a normal season or move to a league that has made a decision. Assuming there is a “normal” season I like East with their depth and pedigree. Dodge County, Minnesota River, West, and Faribault will also be in th...

Re: Minnesota Hockey Taking Over?

I think the September 18th date may get pushed back a week. The generally accepted two week lag time puts the 18th less than 2 weeks from Labor Day. Moving it a week later puts it outside the Labor Day weekend. If on September 25 there is no significant uptick (outside college campuses) I think thin...

Re: Early Departures 2020-2021

Really? No offense but a whole bunch of school districts just postponed in person learning due to an inadequate amount of time to prepare (mid March until September is not enough). How did you miss this? Teachers Unions being paid full wage to not work was all of a sudden going back to work? The pay...

As of today a total of 1 person under the age of 20 has died of COVID-19 in Minnesota. Influenza kills far more, so does drunk driving, driving while texting. Leukemia, Suicide, Gang violence, in fact Deaths by COVID-19 for those under 20 is about the same as being struck by lightning and only sligh...

Re: Minnesota Hockey Taking Over?

Nothing you posted changed the facts. Many maladies are diseases of exclusion. Myocarditis has symptoms, to prove it is myocarditis takes a biopsy. Which is confirmed in your post. Every year some high school athlete in Minnesota seems to drop during practice due to an undiagnosed heart condition. L...

Myocarditis is only proven by a biopsy of cardiac tissue. Have any of the cases cited by the Big Ten been clinically proven?

Re: MSHSL moves football to spring

I think the Big 10 shuts down, the Pac-12 shutting down was already going to happen..... I follow a college football blogger out of Florida who even today thinks SEC and Big XII are playing no matter what the other conferences do. Probably with few on site fans. Those Conferences can delay the seaso...

Re: MSHSL moves football to spring

Nearly every or every school that plays hockey plays football. Less than half of the schools that play football play hockey. In football in 1-9man - AAA only two of 34 schools play hockey; LaCrescent and Lourdes. A handful of others are in co-ops, most in Dodge County. At any rate the I believe the ...

It will be interesting to see what the MSHSL makes of transfers due to online learning. Rochester Public Schools are online learning only through at least October 30, Rochester ...

Re: MSHSL moves football to spring

I was referring to the amount of money hockey generates through Sections and the state tournament and tv revenue. Football doesn’t produce more revenue. Yes it does. Section money goes to the section for all sports. By law the MSHSL gets US Bank stadium rent free, same as the Metrodome. The state d...

Noel Jenke

This topic will die a quick death but deserves a mention. Noel Jenke died on July 25th. If you are an old timer from southern Minnesota Noel Jenke is a legend, along the lines of Paul Giel and as a state up there with Dave Winfield. Noel came from Owatonna, graduated in 1965, and played at the Unive...

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?

^^^^^^ While I honestly hope you are right, do you really think Walz will go against Education Minnesota and allow a hybrid or in person school at all? Let alone allow individual districts to decide what to do? He hasn’t yet deferred decisions to others including the Mayo Clinic. I do not see a way ...
