Re: covid and MH

By law Walz can only order the mandates for 30 days at a time. If you think he will let them expire on December 18th just in time for Christmas and New Years......

Re: covid and MH

Per capita Minnesota is now #7 in the nation. Given population variety it is now us and Wisconsin for top two.

It was once the Northeast, then the Southeast,we were arrogant to think we would not be next.

Protect those we can, treat those we can.

Re: covid and MH

I can not answer your question with anything but an opinion. I have talked at length to high school football coaches who express a problem due to lack of structure. FWIW Rochester just shut down both their indoor rinks until at least November 30. Public schools are shut down until at least January 7...

Re: Football forum

In section 1 Class A has only 3 teams in the playoffs. 4A and 5A are playing place games only (first, third, and fifth) no playoffs. 2A has 4 teams but one hasn’t played since week 2. In 6A they are playing down to 4 teams. Really? You can’t play 2 more games and have a state champ? God forbid Eden ...

Re: covid and MH

Lockdowns only delayed the spread. Mask mandates looked great until they didn’t. Iowa does not have one, Minnesota does but our rates are similar now. We laughed at Georgia and Louisiana but now they are in much better shape than we are. Europe is suffering mightily and they had strict lockdowns and...

Re: MSHSL Oct 1st Meeting (Boys Hockey Season Fate)

Yea yea yea..... I am old enough to remember when it was not politically incorrect to, for teams from Section 1 to sing...... .....I wish I was in Dixie, Hooray, Hooray! To live and die in Dixieland I’ll take my stand, to live and die in Dixie. Away, Away, Away done South in Dixie! Of course we are ...

Re: Boys State Hockey Tournament looking more likely this winter??

I am guessing a state tournament is a bigger option now. The ExCel charges very high rent......assuming the state still limits attendance the MSHSL could put a state tournament in hockey, wrestling, and boys basketball at a smaller venue and televise it and sell advertising. Dropping the rental fee ...

Re: "Before and After"

^^^^That makes sense. There was an argument in my district between the school board and teachers union. The union prevails and being available is the deciding factor, not your location. My educated guess is less than 50% of the teachers teach from school. Of course Wood shop, small engine repair, ev...

Re: Football forum

Had football started on time this Friday would be the section championship games. Instead we still have two regular season games are still on the docket.

The MSHSL completely dropped the ball on this. All the projections were to have an increase in COVID in late October, not August or September.

Re: "Before and After"

Explain what or why you disagree. It is not a rant, just an observation, there is no requirement for teachers to be here during distance learning, why are students any different? Just because they play a sport?

Maybe there is a valid reason, clearly you think there is. Please explain why.

Good news , as Andover portion of Anoka Henn reverses last weeks sports ban, a little unclear how interrelates with MDH metrics guidance https://twitter.com/youthhockeyhub/status/1320902562795716609?s=21 WM, the reversal applies to all schools in the AH district (Blaine, CR, CP, Anoka, And). Re: MSHSL Oct 1st Meeting (Boys Hockey Season Fate)

Meh, we don’t shut down school districts for 49 students positive with the flu in a district as large as Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan but 49 is far too many with Covid like symptoms in October! I noticed that they cancelled a Breck FB game last evening not because multiple players tested positive, ...

Re: "Before and After"

If my kids math teacher can distance “teach” from her condo in Panama City Beach why can’t my kid distance “learn” from someplace else? The hypocrisy in this whole thing is stupid. If kids are required to be physically in school then they need to be there, if not they should be allowed to be whereve...

Caledonia knocks off #5 Chatfield 33-6. 71 in a row.

That ties the Warriors for #9 all time in the country. They should get to #7 this year. De La Salle out of Oakland California has the record at 151. A sandbagging private school fwiw.

Re: MSHSL Oct 1st Meeting (Boys Hockey Season Fate)

Why was Cloquet shut down? Positive cases related to a game? Community spread? Symptomatic players? Without context your charge is like yelling fire in a crowded theater. That is your Modus Operandi though of course.

It will probably require college level Calculus to determine when was the last time a 5A school beat a 6A school. Being around high school football for nearly 30 years......a viable youth football association is directly related to high school success. Getting kids involved and taught the fundamenta...

It appears Anoka-Hennepin schools, including Andover, Anoka, Blaine, Champlin Park and Coon Rapids, are shutting down co-curriculars starting November 2, as the District is moving secondary schools to all-distance learning. I also got an email in the past 2 hours that my childrens' Ramsey County sc...

Re: MSHSL Oct 1st Meeting (Boys Hockey Season Fate)

Yet 5 weeks into high school football there has not been outbreak associated to football games.

Go to your bunker and stay there until you die. COVID-19 is endemic like Influenza, not just a pandemic. Much harsher but it will not go away like Smallpox with a vaccine.

Re: Football forum

It must be St. Cloud.....of the 6 games (of 150+) canceled this weekend Apollo and Tech are two of them.

Nice game for Bemidji, a non traditional football opponent and a 5A vs 6A crossover game. I am glad they could both play instead of being idle.

Good Lord it will be cold.

USA hockey Tier 3 is playing 40-50 game schedule. The Rochester Grizzlies play 8 games in October and have 8 scheduled in November so far. Good gracious why play 18 games in high school when you can 50 in Tier 3?

No, two different statutes. If the rink was rented by a school then it would be different. The open carry statute is very specific. My employer has legal signs saying no firearms are permitted. Legally, as an employee, these only apply to me. A patient with a legal permit can posses a firearm on our...
