Re: State Games To Watch Again or For 1st Time

The state finals games in '77, '78 and '79 even though I didn't like the end result for 2 of the 3. :P

Re: Walk Off GWGs from Sections/Trnys last decade

Not a GWG but anyone have vid of the STA kid (Novak?) several years back that had a sort of a, "parting of the Red Sea" celly with the student section - possibly during a section game?

Re: The Hermantown Thread

What makes everyone think Edina or Hill would do what the Hawks have done in class A??? Guys. Class A is NOT jv or B or C. Give it up According to PageStat it is. And your previous reply to me was complete deflection/non-answer. CLASS Section A AA AVE RATING 1 11.75 16.60 13.93 2 15.57 18.50 16.88 ...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

And that is why class A hockey is dead! They will continue to make C-chips for 10 out of 12, 11 out of 13, 12 out of 14, and 13 out of 15. Kids will continue to hop on this old ugly donkey(hawk) so they can go to the X. And no one will beat them and they will triumph stand on top of that class A hi...

"Why don’t the other 7A teams join the other A teams in the state that aren’t bluebloods leave the MSHSL and form their own club league/state tournament?" Re: Why high school sports

Born in '67. Growing up I was very fortunately to able to attend a fair share of Gophers sports (best friend's dad was a wealthy UM grad with season tickets to HKY, FB and BB for his law firm), and some Vikings, North Stars and Twins games (dad bought some, brother was a Twins bat boy), but my dad t...

Get well soon, Goldy! I live in the Philippines and we have been on a nationwide quarantine since the 16th. It means different things depending upon where you live, because local municipalities (run by province governors, city mayors and barangay (think neighborhood) captains) can all add on additio...

Some people just refuse to accept the different reasons. It's rather convenient...

Herman(Ely,Virginia,Denfeld,Proctor, Hayward)town. I think we can all agree that transfers happen. But there was a list earlier on this topic with ten or more kids from elsewhere. That is about half your team. A little excessive! A transfer here and there is one thing, but half your team? And play ...

Re: Recruiting 2020-21 Season

I think there's a bit of hyperbole with this topic happening here. I don't like seeing transfers as much as anyone and thought what EP did this year was pretty gross given they have one of the largest enrollments in the state, but for people to act like community based hockey is gone is laughable. E...

Re: Biggest Tourney upsets

2010.

Tonka (26-1 during the season and I believe 10 Div I recruits) went 2-1 vs. Edina (17-6) during the season including a 7-1 decision in January. Sadly the 4-OT game the night before vs. Hill-Murray and a godawful start to the 1st period got the best of them.

How many state champs did the Lake produce this year? 2 less than the TRME, and Moorhead went 0-2.

Cripes, EP was lucky Hastings got jobbed and they got a horrid South team.
Yes we know how much it pleases a grown man of your age to root against an entire area of the state every year.

Re: 3 Privates & EP walk into a pub

I want to watch skilled hockey. I'm a h.s. hockey fan and attended my first tournament in 1972. I can no longer attend them so I will take the time to watch and appreciate what hockey means in Minnesota. This a showcase event I don't care if there are no true Davids left in the AA tournament.

Re: Question

I've never like the idea. "A" schools have a much weaker road through the sections and state than "AA". There's also a bias because there are people here who just want the small or northern school to get into a final without having to go through the normal channels of AA grind. I guess I’m starting...

Re: Hill-Murray vs St. Thomas Academy - Semi-Final Friday

The Cadets are a bit like White Bear, they always play us tough. Coasting in the 3rd period is sort of a once a decade experience. Hornets: lost their stinger Skippers: boat sunk Hounds: put to sleep Thunderhawks: had their wings clipped Ponies: rode hard & put away wet Bengals: de-fanged Red Knigh...

Should make for great hockey hopefully. I'm not psyched that I'll have no rooting interest, but if I had to pick a team it would be Blake as the newest arrival to AA.

Eliminate the "Opt Up" option - no exceptions. Each team below the mid-enrollment point would have to play A. In addition to Warroad, Mahtomedi, Hermantown and St. Cloud Cathedral you would have teams like St. Thomas, Blake, Breck, Benilde, Holy Angels, Grand Rapids, Roseau, East Grand Forks, C-E-C...

I don't know if he's not interested, never been approached or not available, but I really enjoyed Casey Hankinson the 1 (2?) year he did Gophers hockey. He wasn't the most exciting guy, but he was coherent, smart and very rarely left you scratching your head. And I doubt he'd ever bring up the jerse...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

What if there was no moving up a class, what if all schools had to play where their enrollment dictates. That would put CEC and Grand Rapids in 7A. Then some of the kids(or should I say parents) couldn't just pick up and move to H-town aka Lake Superior Stars high school team for a 99.8% chance of ...
