Elk River and Duluth were strong at the Elk River tournament. Both teams controlled their pools in the round robin but I don't know which team won the championship.

'96 Girls Player looking for a offseason team

I coach a 14UA team in SE Minnesota. One of my players is '96 birthyear and she has now decided to put more energy into hockey and less in to some of her other sports. This player is a good all around athlete and they missed the various tryouts due to lack knowledge of the opportunities. She was on ...

MGHCA website shows Berglund with 3 games and 0 points. Megan is a really good player and fun to watch. Any ideas when she'll be close to 100%?

What about Walker? Will she be back in the lineup anytime soon.

I read Bill's articles and always enjoyed them and was fortunate enough to meet him twice. The last time was when CDH was participating in a scrimmage fest in Rochester a few years ago. Bill was observing and taking notes from the penalty box area and I had a chance to chat with him. He'll be missed.

I just read in tonight's Rochester Post-Bulletin that Jessie has been selected as the Sports Kid if the Year. Congratulations to Jessie. She is a focused, hard working athlete.

This is a real honor for a 7th grader and it reflects well on girls hockey in general!

Where do you find a 40 game limit for 14U? The MN Hockey handbook limits squirts (10U) to 35 games in section VII.G.2. There is a section pertaining to mites but nothing for PW, 12U, BT, or 14U. Can anyone point me to a section that addresses 14U or BT game counts? Is this a limitation from your Dis...

Rochester 14UB Tourney Looking For Teams

I understand that many 14U teams don't know what to do until the high school tryouts are complete. For those of you that that are looking, the Rochester 14UB tourney is December 17-19.

Sports Illustrated SportsKid of the year

I posted a thread on the girls youth hockey forum regarding Jess Aney of Rochester MN being up as a finalist for Sports Illustrated SportsKid of the Year. It would be great to have a Minnesota Hockey player on the cover of SI as the SportsKid of the Year. I encourage everyone to follow the link and ...

Last year RYHA had the following number of teams at these levels: BA - 1, BB - 2, BB2 -2, BC - 2 PA - 1, PB - 2, PB2 - 2, PC(house) - 4 If you are disparaging the skill level of the players I guess you are entitled to your opinion. If you think this years kids are jumping 2 levels then you'd be wron...

We are looking for qualified female coaches in our youth association and at our local high schools but they aren't hiding behind every rock and tree. Hockey has only been a girls varsity sport since 95 and many of those first upperclassmen were not experienced players. The underclassmen from those y...

Elliot, it's not teams it's team..1 at each A level. Here's a thought..have Rochester field more than 1 A team  Good grief they complain about competition but intentionally slant their association towards an unfair advantage over the rest of the state. How many cities with over 100,000 people...

From the outside looking in this is kind of odd. When I think of quality hockey programs I think of District 6. There teams are among the best at all levels year after year. D2, D8 and D10 have strong teams but I don't see the consistency at all levels and also it will vary from year to year. What i...

2 of my kids have June birthdates. They started school in September after they turned 5. My nephew is also a June birthday but he started school when he was 6.

No matter where you move the age cutoff there will be families on either side of the cutoff date that will want to be on the other side.
