Re: 2024 Girls State High School Hockey Tournament
well said eagles. As much as we don't want to admit it, betting on Edina at the X on saturday evening is never a bad one. Glad someone else see's the 'glaring' difference in coaching. If Tonka didn't can her last year they most likely won't. Last year was a flop unlike any i have seen. A holy cross ...

Re: 2024 Girls State High School Hockey Tournament
Also Edina 14-0 all time in state quarters, Minnetonka 10-0. Pure domination
I was surprised to see Tonka hasn't won a title in over 10 years. Since they won three in a row. The powers of Girl's hockey has changed over the year. So many years of SSP and Roseville. Hopkins had a tur...

Re: tourney
I noticed the same with the 5-on-3. It seems like a combination of coaching and hockey IQ on what you described. With all these players, is it maybe they’re just not as ultra-great like everyone thinks they are (or expect)? They are the best of 2023, but simply not superstars. None look close to be...

How about the Halvorson girl not being all tourney?
Scores that game tying goal against tonka yesterday and a hat trick today.
Wow!

That’s a pp.
Hasn’t Andover had a successful transfer portal? Winnie keeps pimping Andover girls coming up thru the youth program.

Re: tourney
On a lighter note, I still wish this tourney was a Ritter. What an atmosphere that would create.
I hate watching championship games and seeing a bunch of empty seats when the puck goes in the corner.
I have yet to figure out why the Hemp’s left Andover, especially with the family being so involved on the youth side. If it was discussed on the forum, shoot me the link. I've never hea...

Re: tourney
I agree with the gripping at refs. I only watched them play yesterday and against maple grove. Last year i noticed them always gripping at refs even when game was in hand without much time left. Why put your team in that position

Re: tourney
Pretty obvious they are poorly coached. No adjustments and power play has no creativity and forces plays. When your first unit is all signed with umd/um I expect to see something ultra impressive. A 5-3 with Ava Lindsey standing 70 ft out on the half wall and forcing marginal plays to the net says i...

Re: tourney
Agree with eagles. Sometimes I think girls play better as underclassman like tonka did last year as primarily juniors. I don’t know if the pressure of being seniors got to these girls or what. They looked uninspired and played like it was another game in January. I was at the game and thought gentry...

Re: 2022 Class AA State Tournament
I guess I was by saying Sadura should focus on not taking dumb penalties as much as she does pre-rehearsed cellys. Call me crazy or just say blasting some someone in the numbers 3' from the boards and 187' from your net is normal behavior with the game tied 4-4 and the state title on the line; 'hey ...

Re: 2022 Class AA State Tournament
Good discussion guys - Phunn - You are probably more knowledgeable than I on the Minnetonka situation but the way I saw it of the top goalie, top 4 d and top 3 lines; half of them didn't wear a Tonka jersey last season. I heard only a few girls on the team played 10u at Tonka so if thats true, 75-80...

Very well put eagles
J, funny we were both watching the players after the game. Some other odd behavior I noticed but I’ll keep that to myself; for now

Re: 2022 Class AA State Tournament
Its good to be back....here's my 200 cents. I agree with Moosepaw that it causes girls to funnel to certain programs, especially private schools. With boys you might have 3-4 teams capable of making it and it seems to bounce around more from year to year whereas with the girls its 1-2 teams per sect...

Why would people in the cities care about hakstol being fired? We are discussing dons ability to recruit/build a national powerhouse. He has 20 seasons under his belt without a single frozen four game won. His cc and gopher teams were unreal his first 3-4 years so maybe he can manage a team but can'...

Let put it this way. In the 20 seasons Lucia has had teams with all his recruits, meaning after the first 3-4 seasons of building teams his way, he has not won a single game at the Frozen Four in those 20 seasons. That includes a decade now of having his guys at the U. Ok, Fairbanks was bottom feede...

I haven't seen him play since before last season but... Great Hands, Great Speed, Great Character, Someone in a previous post said he would be one of the Gophers best players as a soph, the tribune player of the year. Something doesnt add up. He is on pace to have 6 points in full USHL season. Not g...

agreed without a goalie and ness it will be hard to win games disagree, have you seen their holiday schedule? 3 north dakota teams followed by LOTW, Northfield, and Alexandria (all at home). They're going to win games alright. How they stack up against the city teams if they make it here is another...

Interesting finds. Not sure if I am suprised that the avg go-to-guys are about 6-0 200lbs. I wouldn't consider that all that small. These 50 guys are some of the most skilled in the world. If someone could avg the top 4-5 defensemen on their teams breaking the puck out and then avg the enforcers and...

I also see the Isles signed MN native Jack Hillen out of Colorado College this spring. Okoposo at even strength last year. 18 games. team leading -10. 3 goals and 1 assist and 3 penalties for 6 minutes. Can anyone really blame the islanders for wanting something to change for a guy they took with 7t...

As a big Gopher Hockey fan and season ticket holder, it is not good to see the Islanders take Ness... Garth Snow has made it clear last year w/ Okoposo, that he is not a big fan of College hockey, and not a fan of how Mr. Lucia develops his kids... I don't really agree with that. I think the okopos...
